Disability Snowsport UK are the skiers’ and boarders’ charity who strive to promote equality and opportunity for people with disabilities to take part in snowsports, and to help improve their enjoyment and standard of performance at the level of their choice.
Through snowsports, they believe that they are able to offer increased opportunities, mobility, freedom, social interaction, independence and skill of people with disabilities, by providing a caring, therapeutic experience with the added thrill of adventure.
They administer lessons both a private and group basis. They welcome skiers with little or no experience, as well as those who have skied before, from the ages of 3 years old and up.
Their skiers’ disabilities range from neuromuscular diseases such as spina bifida and cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, diabetes, visual and hearing impairments, amputations and limb deficiencies, cerebrovascular accidents, as well as a wide range of development and cognitive disabilitiessuch as learning and communication difficulties, emotional and behavioural difficulties, down’s syndrome and autism
